MISSION FUNDS DEBIT CARD

Most missionaries will receive a blue Bank of America Visa debit card, typically during their second week at the MTC. This card will be used infield for relevant expenses.

Refer to Section 4.8.1 in Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ for more information on the appropriate use of mission funds.

Unless otherwise instructed, this card is NOT for use at the MTC, but in your assigned mission. The card should be kept with other important documents. When you arrive at your mission, you should:

  • If needed, contact the mission Financial Secretary (not the bank or the MTC) about any issues, including: lost/stolen card, name correction/change, etc.

  • Receive your PIN number, which should be memorized and NOT written down.

Avoid ATM balance inquires, as each Friday an email is sent listing your transactions and balance. You may start receiving these emails while in the MTC showing that you have a small balance available. This balance is for use infield and not at the MTC.

If you notice an incorrect or misspelled name on your mission funds debit card while at the MTC, you can coordinate a name correction by emailing missioncards@churchofjesuschrist.org for assistance. Note that the mission cards office will only change a name to match your official name in the missionary department’s records. Once infield, you should coordinate all financial questions or concerns to the mission financial secretary.

PERSONAL DEBIT CARD

Personal funds include money sent directly to you from home. Refer to Section 4.8.2 in Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ for information on the appropriate use of personal funds.

I received my mission funds debit card, but my name is spelled incorrectly. What should I do?

Note that the mission cards office will only change a name to match your official name in the missionary department’s records. I'm leaving soon and I still haven't received my missionary debit card. Should I be worried?

You do not need to worry, because if it does not come while you are at the MTC, you will receive it after your arrive in your mission. Upon arrival, you should inform the mission financial secretary you have not received your card yet.

Where can I use an ATM?

You may use the Zion's Bank ATM located near the MTC Bookstore in S2. This is the only ATM available on campus at the MTC. The ATM is affiliated with the following banking networks: Visa, American Express, Discover, MasterCard, Cirrus, Plus, Pulse, and Star. Note that bank fees may apply.
