Helping Others Introduction

What is Helping Others?

Helping Others is an activity where you and your companion will connect with a person, via video conference or in-person, and have the chance to invite and help them come closer to Christ through your teaching, in your native or mission language.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do if the person I am teaching isn't there or if I miss an appointment?

Please wait for about five minutes. The people you teach have busy lives, and they may be running a few minutes late. If they are more than five minutes late, please use this link to report the missed appointment or visit the Helping Others desk for help if you are in-person.

The best thing you can do is to get in contact with them through email or text. Let them know how sad you were that they couldn't make it. If something happened, express your concern, sympathies, or share something helpful and uplifting. Consider providing them with something to read, watch, or do as a commitment if applicable. If you need help, please call, email, or visit the Helping Others desk.

Something came up and we are unable to make it to our lesson. What do we do?

If you need to cancel an appointment, you should notify the people you are going to teach and the Helping Others desk as soon as possible by email, phone (801) 422-6971 or visiting the desk. If you need the contact information of the person you are supposed to teach, the staff at the desk will be able to help.

The person we are helping accepted an invitation to be baptized! What do we do?

That is so exciting! Please inform the staff at the Helping Others desk by phone, email, or visiting the desk and they will take it from there.

Are the people that we help members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Those who are members will all act as if they are not members of the Church. We will not disclose if a person is a member or not. The people you teach have also been instructed not to disclose if they are members or not, so please do not ask.
