Most of you will receive a missionary support HSBC MasterCard credit card along with your nametags prior to entering the MTC. This is a limited funds credit card to be used for appropriate infield expenses.

Refer to Section 4.8.1 in Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ for more information on the appropriate use of mission funds provided on this card.

Unless otherwise instructed, this card is NOT for use at the MTC, but should be kept with your other important documents. When you arrive at your mission, you should:

• If needed, contact the mission Financial Secretary (not the bank or the MTC) about any issues, including lost/stolen card, name correction/change, etc.

• Receive your PIN number, which should be memorized and NOT written down.

Avoid ATM balance inquiries, as you will be able to look up your balance later. Information on how you can review balance of funds available on your HSBC mission support credit card will be provided when you arrive at your mission.

Note that incorrect ATM pin entries could result in being locked out of the card or the machine destroying the card.

Again, if your card is lost, stolen, damaged or name is spelled wrong, do not worry. You will be able to sort out any of these problems with your financial secretary upon arriving at your mission. Note that the mission cards office will only change a name to match your official name in the missionary department’s records. 

Personal funds include money made available to you from friends or family. Refer to Section 4.8.2 in Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ for information on the appropriate use of personal funds.
