Frequently Asked Questions

My card is broken, lost, or not working. Where do I get my card fixed or replaced?

If your ID card has stopped working on the doors or in the cafeteria, bring it to General Services to be re-magnetized.  Please keep ID cards away from any magnets (including in the gym cubbies).

If your ID card is lost, please wait two days for the MTC ID card to be turned in. If your name appears on a monitor, it is likely that you can come and retrieve your ID card. During this time, tell the cashier in the cafeteria that you have lost your card and the clerk will allow you to enter.  If your MTC ID card doesn't turn up after two days, IDs can be replaced for $1.00 at General Services. The $1.00 charge can be paid with cash or the money on the new ID card.

Something in my room or building is broken. Who do I need to tell?

Report all issues with room and building maintenance to us through email or by visiting our office.

We got a notice about our service assignment, but we don't know what we're doing?

In the lobby of S2 there is a corkboard with posted service assignments. Please consult this board for your service assignment.

If you have other questions or problems regarding service, you can come ask us in General Services.

The vending machine is not working. Who do I tell?

You can report problems with a vending machine to us through email or visiting our office.  We will need to know the location and the type of machine (drinks, frozen food, snacks, etc.).  We can refund money that was lost during a transaction whether it was made in cash or using funds on your missionary card.

Is this where I go to get money for travel?

If travel reimbursement is needed, you will need to speak with the Travel Office (T4 - 136) first.  If you are given a white voucher, you will need to bring the voucher to General Services to be given cash for it.

Someone sent me a personal check. Can I cash it here?

Yes, we can cash personal checks for missionaries as long as it is in US dollars and the amount is less than $100.

I need a fridge for medical purposes. How do I get one in my room?

The MTC can provide accessible refrigeration for select medical conditions.  After placing a $10 cash deposit at the General Services Office, a refrigerator will be delivered to your residence room.  You will need to come to General Services to retrieve your $10 deposit a day before you depart.  General Services will arrange to remove the refrigerator from the your residence after you depart.

Where do I return my lock?

Although General Services is in charge of the locks, you should return your locks to the Travel Office as you leave the MTC.

What should I do if I lose my combination lock?

If you lose your combination lock, you may go to General Services for assistance. There is a $3 fee to replace a lost combination lock.

What should I do if I lose my room key?

If you lose your residence room key, go to the information desk (Main lobby of S1) for assistance. There is a $3 fee to replace a lost room key. If you find your key before you depart, you may take it back to the information desk to get your $3 refunded. If you don't have your key at check out, you will be charged $3 by the Travel office.

I wasn't given a lock. Where do I get one?

If you were not given a lock when you checked in, you can pick one up at General Services.
